Coucou! My name’s Anne. Let me tell you a story.
Hardly Snarky is where I write about my travels, life in France, and all of my delicious adventures.
I currently live in Paris, where I’m working on my masters in global communications and masters thesis at the American University of Paris. I also work for and cook with food writer Clotilde Dusoulier of Chocolate & Zucchini (if you’re in search of vegetable-filled French dishes, head her way!).
I grew up in Georgia, Virginia, and Maryland (though not military), and in the past 10 years have lived in 12 (!) different apartments in five different cities. I studied journalism and French amidst Civil War reenactments in Fredericksburg, Va., and moved to Washington, D.C. right after graduating, where I embraced life on Capitol Hill.
I’ve worked for trade lobbyists in the auto industry, as an English teacher in the south of France, in wine bars and restaurants, and at a boutique spin and barre studio. I’ve traveled solo through Spain and Italy, worked on a French vineyard, and have been desperately trying to recreate the chai I drank under the stars in Rajasthan for months.
I believe that food should be savored, and that sometimes solo meals are better than sharing. But the most delicious meals are those with a history and a story behind them—let me tell you a few.
